Kara Yoo is a Vancouver-based jewellery brand creating sculptural pieces with a playful point of view. Our designs are made to become part of your everyday: easy to reach for, interesting to look at, and entirely your own to wear.

I started the brand in 2013 after studying commerce and metalsmithing. I had first started making jewellery as a hobby, but I was just as curious about how a small idea could grow into a collection and find its way into someone else’s life. I began by bringing my designs to local shops, learning from every conversation and making the next collection.

Over time, I found myself drawn to shapes that feel familiar but a little unexpected: a curve, a knot, a flower, a form borrowed from an object or memory. My Korean heritage, the people around me, and the things I notice in daily life all find their way into the work.

Today, every Kara Yoo piece is designed in Vancouver. Most are made with our production partners in Thailand, while others are made here in our Vancouver studio. We explore different materials and techniques to give each idea the form it needs, from delicate pieces you can wear every day to bolder designs that change the feel of an outfit.
